Military thoracic gunshot wounds: A systematic review

چکیده

Abstract A systematic review of the literature was carried out using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method to investigate frequency military thoracic gunshot wounds (GSWs) deaths in combat theatres since World War Two (WW2). An electronic database search Science, Scopus, Science Direct, PubMed Microsoft Academic conducted keywords ‘combat, casualties, thorax, gunshot, military’ identify peer-reviewed journals conference papers on topic. Twenty-three sources relevant this were identified covered multiple operation. While there is a downward trend GSWs fatalities likely due improvement body armour, medical treatment increased improvised explosive devices (IEDs), shows that advancement has not removed likelihood GSWs, which still accounted approximately 15% all injuries most recent theatres. The identifies thorax continue be risk therefore, personnel should aware severity prepared treat these life-threatening injuries, as timely intervention essential.
